About Solar Cymru

What this site is for

Solar Cymru helps households in Wales work through solar planning, funding and yield questions, checking each answer against Welsh Government sources as they go; anyone who then wants to compare installers can record an enquiry so the website operator can match them with vetted, MCS-certified companies.

We are not a solar installer, lender, broker or government service, and we do not currently employ or represent an installation crew. Submitting an enquiry does not automatically put you in touch with anyone — no installer is contacted on your behalf until you have asked us to do that.

What happens when you use the tools here

Nothing you enter into the Wales solar readiness check leaves your browser; it is never submitted to us or anyone else. Only if you go on to request installer quotes separately does anything reach us — that enquiry is logged in the authenticated central MoreLeadz lead dashboard, where the operator manages and follows it up. Sending it is not the same as booking an installation, and it does not guarantee that a provider actually covers your postcode.

Where the guidance comes from

The Solar Cymru editorial team writes every guide against clearly identified sources, principally the Welsh Government, MCS, Ofgem and RECC. We have not yet attached a named external solar-industry reviewer to the site, and every guide says so plainly; reviewer biographies will only appear once real people have agreed to check the material.

What we will never do

We will not invent reviews, accreditations, local offices, response-time promises or savings guarantees, and we do not decide planning or funding outcomes ourselves — that call always belongs to the relevant Welsh authority or scheme.
