About Solar Cymru

Our purpose

Solar Cymru is an independent UK information website focused on Wales. Its purpose is to help households navigate Welsh planning, funding and yield questions for solar, verify them directly at Welsh Government sources, and — when ready — record an enquiry so the website operator can match them with vetted, MCS-certified installers for comparison.

The website is not a solar installer, lender, broker or government service. It does not currently employ or represent an installation crew. No installer is automatically contacted when an enquiry is submitted.

How the referral model works

The Wales solar readiness check runs entirely in your browser and is never submitted anywhere. If you separately choose to request installer quotes, that enquiry is added to the authenticated central MoreLeadz lead dashboard so the website operator can manage and follow it up. The submission itself is not an installation booking and does not guarantee that a provider covers your postcode.

Who writes the guides

Pages are prepared by the Solar Cymru editorial team using clearly identified sources — principally the Welsh Government, MCS, Ofgem and RECC. No named external solar-industry reviewer is currently attached to the site; each guide says so. We will add reviewer biographies only when real people have agreed to review the material.

What we will not publish

We do not create fake reviews, accreditations, local offices, response-time claims or savings guarantees. We do not claim to determine planning or funding outcomes ourselves — that decision always sits with the relevant Welsh authority or scheme.
