About Solar Cymru
What this site is for
Solar Cymru helps households in Wales work through questions on solar planning, funding and yield. We check each answer against Welsh Government sources, because Welsh rules often differ from the rules in England. When you want to compare installers, you can send an enquiry. The website operator then looks for MCS-certified companies near you.
We are not a solar installer, a lender, a broker or a government service. We do not employ or represent an installation crew. Sending an enquiry does not put you in touch with anyone straight away, since no installer hears about you until you ask us to make that match.
What happens when you use the tools here
Nothing you enter into the Wales solar readiness check leaves your browser. We never receive it, and neither does anyone else. Only a quote request reaches us, and it lands in the secure central MoreLeadz lead dashboard. The operator manages and follows up each request from there.
Sending a request is not the same as booking an installation. It also does not promise that a provider works in your postcode. However, it does give the operator what they need to look for one.
Where the guidance comes from
The Solar Cymru editorial team writes each guide against named sources. In particular, we rely on the Welsh Government, MCS, Ofgem and RECC. We have not yet added a named outside solar reviewer, and our guides say so plainly. Reviewer profiles will only appear once real people agree to check the material.
Our editorial and evidence policy sets out the order in which we trust sources. It also explains how we fix mistakes. If you spot an error, the complaints and corrections page tells you how to report it.
What we will never do
We will not invent reviews, accreditations, local offices, response times or savings promises. We also do not decide planning or funding outcomes ourselves. That call always belongs to the right Welsh authority or scheme, so we point you to them for the final word.
Instead, we try to make the next step clearer. Start with the Wales solar panel guide, or request installer quotes when you feel ready.
